Daily Prompt: Prized Possession

Describe an item you were incredibly attached to as a child. What became of it?

This was my most prized possession when I was growing up.  It was an AM transistor radio that I carried with me everywhere.

Then one day it disappeared and I searched high and low for it, crying my eyes out for I loved it dearly.  Then one day as I walking past the servants’ quarters I heard them listening to the afternoon dramas then called “Verboten” (Imagine hearing it said with the “V” pronounced as “B”) which featured some racy dialogues in the dialect, and some pretty interesting sound effects, too.

As I looked into the room, I saw my prized possession right there with them but they chased me out of the room before I could snatch it back.

I missed that radio so much that a hundred years later, I bought a vintage one on Etsy.

And though I got to reclaim a bit of my childhood, reception is a whole different story altogether.

It’s still as bad as I remembered it.
