Mine – 28

you think me beautiful
you think me perfect
you see through the many masks
i wear
you see through every regret

you see through us
you see through the lies
you hear the words I dare
not say
you hear my cries

you feel my pain
you feel my desire
you know exactly how to make
things right
you know how to play with fire

his hand traces
the scars on her skin
left there so long ago
a faint line here, followed by another,
then another in a row
no judgment in his eyes,
only acceptance
over the things
that he knows

i see you, he tells her,
though i’ll never know
the things you yearned
to scream then
but i hear them –
each scar telling him
their story
from each beginning
to each end.

she doesn’t have to tell him
that she loves it
when he tells her
the things he wants her to do
when every command he utters
she follows
when his every command
sends her to the places
only he knows

when he walks towards her
she trembles
not out of fear
but of want
she yearns the feel
of his hand
on her soul
a caress that disciplines
a touch that haunts

for he teases the ghosts
that lay claim
on her past,
taunting them all
to come forth
she trembles and craves his hand
upon her
his protection
never falls short

Mine – 4

there are days when
i feel so un-beautiful
when my hips
look just too-wide
but then i catch you
watching me from where you stand
and i know then
that i’m more than
all right

more than the woman
i think i am
more than just skin
and strong bones
i’m so much more
because i know you love me
i’m so much more than anyone
outside of us
knows

he dominates me
because i let him
he dominates me
because that’s what he is –
a man who treasures me
and loves me,
who knows me so well,
he lays out
my darkest fears

but lest you think
he can do whatever he wants
it’s with my consent
that he can
dominate my heart
that yearns for submission
with a look, a kiss,
even the sweet sting
of a firm hand

NaPoWriMo15

So NaPoWriMo15 is officially here and as usual, I’m late in posting.  For this year’s challenge, I’m sticking to something simpler – no long tortured poetry about my life and all that, and what a big sigh of relief that is.

Instead, I’m doing an exploration of sorts.

I came across Álvaro de la Herrán‘s video for GQ Spain called Mine, and me being the visual creature that I am, I wanted to write poetry inspired by that feature that delves into what Herrán calls, “a contemporary sexual relationship” where “a kiss hides more than a tongue.”  The video has some NSFW elements so be forewarned before you click on the link.

So some of the poems might be a bit risqué and the accompanying screen caps NSFW, but it is what it is.  But because it’s an exploration for me into the realm of sensuality that I’ve never done before in poetry, I hoe that I won’t be offending too many sensibilities.

Besides, what’s the point of poetry when it becomes too safe, eh?

Mine – 1

you’re mine, he said
as i lay prone on his bed
wondering out loud, is it true –
that’s what i really am to you?
yours and only yours,
to be loved and adored
then I shall not complain
as he cinches the ties tighter,
welcoming the pain.
