Misery

I’ve come to realize time and time again
that there are simply way too many people
too miserable for their own good
and so they spread misery like glitter
hoping it will stick, reassuring them
that they’re not alone
in the misery
that makes them sick

They blabber on about nothing
and complain about everything
under the sun, and as long as
there’s someone there to listen to them,
they’ll keep going on like an empty drum
Just drumming about, with nothing useful
to say, just drumming about
all damn day.

I wish I could tell these people,  one from the other
but on the internet, it’s quite tough to do
and so you end up learning as you go
thinking you’re trying to be helpful
only they don’t want your help
they only want you to commiserate with them
hoping it will catch you like glitter
and you’ll turn into one of them.

Daily Prompt: Karma Chameleon

This just in: let’s pretend that science has proven that karma is a thing. Your words and actions will influence what happens to you in the future. How (if at all) will you change your ways?

Photographers, artists, poets: show us CIRCLE.

Is it so difficult to be kind
when we conduct ourselves online?
Even when no one can see us
must we really stir, fuss
over trivial things
that no joy brings,
shatter peace
near and
far?
