NaPoWriMo Day 2: Stray

Bathed in the remains of the day
she lays quietly, undisturbed
ruminating on the life we’ve lived so far
wondering what awaits us in this world

so many questions,
so many lies
as she seeks for answers
from behind my eyes

so she lays quietly like she always does
capturing the last of the sun’s rays,
pondering the future that lies ahead of us
till she closes her eyes, and lets her dreams stray

NaPoWriMo Day 1: Lune

No April Fools’ here!  Why? Because it’s National Poetry Writing Month and the first prompt is to write a lune.  Similar to a haiku which is a 3-line poem with a 5-7-5 syllable count, a lune is a 3-line poem with a 5-3-5 syllable pattern.  So, here goes!

Outside my window,
a rose blooms
in the morning sun

so sweet and precious,
it’s beauty
a rival to none

till the days go by,
pink petals
falling, then it’s gone.
