Early Train

I’m leaving on an early train
though I don’t know where to go
everything’s been so wonderful here
more than you’ll ever know.

The sights, the sounds, the sky above
It’s more than my heart can bear
to leave this place and most of all,  you –
how can life be so unfair?

But life goes on, we have to move along
even though sometimes we just want to stay
Breathe the same air, drink the same sights,
and laugh day after day

But I have to go, there’s no more time
the early train will be here soon
I’ll kiss your lips and caress your cheek,
sigh my prayers to the moon

One day our paths will cross again
and this time none of us will leave
and as I step through the doors of the train
your smile greets me – a  sweet reprieve

Got something to say? Spill the beans!
