Daily Prompt: Silver Linings (Nonet)

Write about something you consider “ugly” — war, violence, failure, hatred — but try to find beauty, or a sense of hope, in your thoughts.

It seems all I ever write about
Skim the darkness and pain long past
Dancing, twirling, just missing
Falling into the mire
Underneath it all
Lies the promise
Everything
Will be
Fine

A nonet is a nine line poem, with the first line containing nine syllables, the next eight, so on until the last line has one syllable. Nonets can be written about any subject, and rhyming is optional.

  1. Very nice – it can’t have been easy to fit the entire prompt into a nonnet, but you did it! The last 5 lines in particular flowed beautifully.

    1. Thank you! Glad you thought so. I was wondering if I’d totally missed the mark with that prompt after reading other bloggers’ awesome posts, but then I wrote that hours ago, and I’m getting delusional 🙂

I'd love to hear what you think!
